Smart Home Services is committed to making homes and businesses throughout Maryland and the mid-Atlantic region more healthy, comfortable and energy efficient. We are committed to the training and certification of our team. We hold ourselves to the highest standards and participate in programs that we believe are making a positive impact in our communities.
Building Performance Institute (BPI)
Smart Home Services is part of an elite group of contractors with the BPI Contractor Accreditation. BPI is a recognized global leader, supporting the development of technical standards for home performance and weatherization retrofit work. Through these standards, BPI has developed training programs, professional credentialing and company accreditations to raise the bar in home performance contracting.
Not only is Smart Home Services a BPI Accredited Contractor, but every member of our field crew is a BPI Certified Professional. This means that each individual has proven their skills, meeting stringent and nationally recognized standards by passing both written and field examinations. BPI Certified Professionals are required to earn ongoing continuing education units to stay current with emerging issues, technologies and best practices.
LEED
Smart Home Services is proud to announce that Rebecca Rundle earned her LEED AP Homes credentials in 2011. LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all metrics that matter most including sustainability, energy usage, water efficiency, materials & resources and indoor environmental quality. The LEED AP Homes credential is specific to the design and construction of high-performance green homes.
Certified Home Energy Rater
Rebecca Rundle is also a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rater. This certification is given to individuals who have proven their ability to test and evaluate a home and assign an energy rating established by RESNET (Residential Energy Services Network). A home energy rating involves analyzing a home’s construction plans and performing an on-site inspection. Using state-of-the-art software and technology, Smart Home Services is able to perform an energy analysis of the home, identify areas for energy efficiency improvement to ensure that the house will meet ENERGY STAR performance guidelines.
BGE Smart Energy Savers Program
By participating in the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program, Smart Home Services is able to help BGE customers who are implementing certain energy efficient upgrades to their homes access discounts and rebates. Home Performance with ENERGY STAR is designed to take a “whole house” approach to energy efficiency, saving you money and making your home healthier, more comfortable and more efficient than ever.
Baltimore Community Energy Savers Grant
The City of Baltimore has committed $1 million in stimulus funds to a competitive grant program for community and neighborhood organizations to reduce energy use. Smart Home Services is dedicated to helping Baltimore realize their vision for a sustainable future. We work with groups and organizations to perform energy audits and retrofits to improve energy efficiency and help create a better Baltimore.
